RAYNET was formed in 1953 following the severe East coast flooding, to provide a way of organising the valuable resource that Amateur Radio is able to provide. There are now many Groups across the country that work with the local emergency planning officers (EPO)and other user groups These are any United Kingdom Police force, Fire or Ambulance service, Health Authority or Government Department, Chief Emergency Planning Officers and HM Coastguard, the British Red Cross Society, the St John Ambulance Brigade, the St Andrew's Ambulance Association, the Women's Royal Voluntary Service, the Salvation Army and the Utility Services. Apart from Emergencies we can setup communications at local events
