RAYNET was formed
in 1953 following the severe East coast flooding, to provide a way of
organising the valuable resource that Amateur Radio is able to provide.
There are now many Groups across the country that work with the local
emergency planning officers (EPO)and other user groups These are any
United Kingdom Police force, Fire or Ambulance service, Health Authority
or Government Department, Chief Emergency Planning Officers and HM
Coastguard, the British Red Cross Society, the St John Ambulance
Brigade, the St Andrew's Ambulance Association, the Women's Royal
Voluntary Service, the Salvation Army and the Utility Services. Apart
from Emergencies we can setup communications at local events
